Dev Deepawali — Ganga Mahal Double Decker Boat
The bajra is the broad, double-decked boat that has carried Banaras on the water for generations. On Dev Deepawali night the upper deck is the seat worth having: an uninterrupted line of sight down the full diya-lined crescent, above the traffic of smaller boats, with the maha-aarti and the laser show framed like a stage.
Both decks are seated, snacks and refreshments are served on board, and life jackets are provided and worn throughout. The ride covers all 84 ghats and continues until the scheduled shows conclude.
How it runs
- 4:00 PM sharp — Report at the designated ghatApproaches close to vehicles well before sunset, so late arrivals cannot be moved to a later boat.
- 4:45 PM — Boarding beginsThe boat then crosses to the far bank, where the whole illuminated riverfront is in front of you.
- 5:00 – 8:30 PM — The show beginsYour boat takes you along all 84 ghats — the Ganga Aarti from the water, the laser light show and the fireworks.
